Our Mission and Vision
History

"The small company 'Ishima Boeki Co.' was founded in Okinawa, Japan, and decided to emigrate to Santa Cruz, Bolivia in 1994, coinciding with the centenary of Japanese immigration to Bolivia. Upon arriving in Santa Cruz, the company was renamed ISHIMA S.R.L.

We started producing panela from sugarcane of the rich South American land and exporting it to Japan, Europe, and the United States. In 1997, after the liberation of the Salt Monopoly Law in Japan, we introduced Rose Salt to the global market, extracted from the foothills of the Andes Mountains and exported it after refinement.

Over the last 25 years, ISHIMA S.R.L. has not only produced and exported Panela and Rose Salt, but also Propolis Panela, Maca Panela, and Uyuni Salt. Additionally, we offer services as export agents of beans, chia seeds, maca, and other products, and we have also developed commercial businesses in Latin America, including the importation of tires.

As we move into the 21st century, Japan faces a labor shortage due to demographic decline. However, the history of Japanese immigration to South America, which exceeds 100 years, remains alive. Japanese immigrants and their descendants have put down roots, cultivated the land, transmitted skills, and expanded businesses in their new lands.

Currently, it is estimated that there are three million Japanese immigrants and their descendants (Nikkei) worldwide, a number similar to the population of Shizuoka Prefecture, the tenth most populous in Japan, and this number is expected to continue growing.
